Weekly services

At St Benedict’s we don’t believe we just worship God on a Sunday morning or whilst in church! We also know that our modern lives are constantly being bombarded with extra pressures and working routines, that is why we try to cater for all people to be able to worship in a style and manner that best suits them. Below are some of the services that are the main backbone to St Benedict’s though we are always searching for new ways to bring Jesus to the parish.
We have various services at St Benedict’s church and not always what you might expect from a middle of the road Anglican church.

Sunday Services, 10am & 4pm

Our main service is at 10am, though do check timings as this occasional does change! If you are familiar with Church of England liturgy (CW) then you’ll fit right in at this service. Each week we celebrate all that Jesus did for us with hymns, prayers, teaching from the Bible and in an act of remembrance, we receive Holy Communion together. (Length about 1 ½ hours)

Junior Church

This is a children's service within our main Sunday service for primary-aged children, whose parents or guardians attend our morning service. Children worship in our side room, sharing and discussing a Bible story, carrying out an activity related to the story and join in singing and praying.  They return to the adults in church for communion, receiving a blessing and a biscuit at the altar rail. They often share what they have done and made with us.  Junior church meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with a break in August.

St Ben's @4

We also have a weekly family service, ‘StBens@4’ which is definitely aimed at the younger members of our congregation, though provoking challenging thoughts not just for our youth but also some parents (!) through discussion and understanding of the scriptures. This service is more lively and interactive, with sing-a-long action tunes and most weeks a craft that relates to the teaching we would have just heard. (Length of service about 45 minutes)

Wednesdays (10am)

This is our midweek Holy Communion service, (10am). It lasts about 45 minutes, depending whether we are in a singing mood or not! This service offers those who have busy lives to come to worship.

Corinthians 8:6 “… yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”
